Here at "The Joy in Making", we aim to make crafting more meaningful and fulfilling. We want to bring together the technical skills of learning a new craft while incorporating personal enjoyment, child development, and principles of faith to create a place of joy.
The need to create comes from our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ, who literally created everything. They are divine makers, and we inherited that potential from them. If you don't think you are the creative type, think again. Making goes far beyond beading and crochet, as much fun as things like that can be. Creating includes making families, making memories, making smiles, and making someone's day better.
The goal of "The Joy in Making" is to learn new skills and use them to better our lives and the lives of our loved ones. We can take a simple act like baking cookies and use it to teach our children math and science, and we can relate following the recipe to keeping the commandments. We can build fine motor development in toddlers by helping them to string bead necklaces, and ponder how small and simple things can bring great things to pass. We can learn loom knitting with our friends while pondering what it means to have our hearts knit together in unity and love. And we can make relationships stronger as we spend time building science fair projects with our teenagers.
Some days all you need is a spark of an idea to ignite your creativity. Other days you need instructions and a kit with the supplies already gathered for you. And sometimes, what you need is a party where you learn together with friends. The Joy in Making strives to provide whatever you may need to bring a little creativity into your life. From idea boards to premade kits and instruction videos, from fully planned activity nights or parties, or even a handmade gift for yourself or another, we want to help privide whatever you need. Join us in our journey as we find new ways to create and discover The Joy in Making.
